Bio

Courtney Risk is a former litigator based in Lexington, Kentucky. She previously served as an Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney in Jefferson County, Kentucky, prosecuting felony domestic violence assaults and homicides; child physical and sexual abuse; and child exploitation. After returning to Lexington, Courtney’s practice focused on employment law, worker’s compensation, municipal law, open records law, and insurance defense.  Courtney has worked in both the public and private sector and understands the challenges attorneys face.     

Courtney has a passion for giving back, previously serving as Chair for the Ampersand Sexual Violence Resource Center Board of Directors. Courtney continues to collaborate with advocates to train law enforcement and first responders across central Kentucky on trauma informed investigative techniques.  Courtney is currently a Legal Fellow for The Mary Byron Project which provides legal advocacy to victims of intimate partner violence.

Courtney attended Northern Kentucky University Salmon P. Chase College of Law. During law school, she was an extern for the Supreme Court of Kentucky Justice Michelle Keller and the Legal Division of the Kentucky State Police.

Courtney enjoys spending time with her family and goes camping, hiking, and paddle boarding whenever she can.
